Cinco de Mayo -- Maple Mezcal Margarita
If your happy hour is in need of a refresher, this adaptation on a simple margarita will add some life to your evening or impress your guests (...when hosting is once again a thing!).
This beverage is all about flavor pairing. Mezcal has a distinct smokey flavor making it a tasty partner to maple syrup. Similarly, grapefruit and maple syrup are little known pairing that is quite tasty. So whether it's Cinco de Mayo or just cinco o'clock, we think you'll love this drink.
Maple Mezcal Margarita:
- Juice from 1 lime
- 1 ounce grapefruit juice
- 1.5 ounces Tequila
- 1.5 ounces Mezcal
- 1 ounce Orange liquore
- 1/2 Maple UnTapped packet
- 1 Lemon Tea Mapleaid stick for rimming the glass
Slice a lime wedge and take it for a trip, fruit side down, around the edge of a cocktail glass. Pour the Lemon Tea Mapleaid stick in a small plate or bowl about the size of the glass's rim and spin the glass through the Mapleaid to coat the glass.
Pour all ingredients into a shaker with a handful of ice. Shake aggressively, then pour and serve.
