Four Recipes For Your Fourth

Four Recipes For Your Fourth

The burgers and dogs are on the grill, your friends are flip-flopping their way through your house, and you’re reaching into your pantry for… your favorite athletic fuel?  I know, I know – but stay with me here for a minute.

When fueling for a run or a bike ride, we keep it simple here at UnTapped.  Real fuel, made from real food, to keep you moving and feeling your best.  Why should it be any different when we’re preparing other meals?  That’s easy: it’s not.  The simplicity of the UnTapped product line allows for the versatility to use it across other aspects of your life.  Maple syrup can be used interchangeably in place of most standard sugars in recipes, offering a lower glycemic option that’s also naturally chock-full of minerals, amino acids, electrolytes, and more.

As we prepared our menu for the office Fourth of July barbecue there was no question about maple syrup being incorporated.  From pickled red onions to ice cream sandwiches, the UnTapped line-up is capable of doing more than just fueling you on the trail.  Check out some of our favorite recipes we make on repeat for a hot summer day of fun – cheers!

UnTapped Product Needs:

Salted Raspberry UnTapped x 1

Salted Citrus UnTapped x 1

Lime Mapleaid x 3

Grape Mapleaid x 2

Stroopwafels x 6+

Margarita + Mocktail (yield: 2)

-3 oz tequila

-1.5 oz Cointreau / Triple Sec

-1 oz lime juice

-1 packet Lime Mapleaid

-1 packet Salted Citrus UnTapped

-1 pinch of salt

-1 can sparkling Chug Water

Rim your glasses with Salted Citrus UnTapped, and then roll in salt.

Add all ingredients *except sparkling water* to a cocktail shaker, and shake vigorously over ice.  Strain into two glasses equally, add ice, and top with sparkling Chug Water.  Garnish with a lime.

To make into a refreshing mocktail, omit the booze (that’s right, just Lime Mapleaid stirred into sparkling Chug Water) and garnish appropriately.  CAREFULLY pour the sparkling water over the Lime Mapleaid as the sugar content will make it bubble-up quickly.  We promise it’s worth the patience 😏

The margarita/mocktail is best enjoyed with your favorite gal pal, dog friend, or alongside a good book.

Cheers!

Pickled Red Onions (yield: 1 cup)

-1 red onion thinly sliced

-1 c. white vinegar

-1 c. water

-1 oz Salted Raspberry UnTapped

-1 tbsp whole peppercorns (optional)

Slice up your red onion as fine as you would like (*just like you*) and pile into a 32 oz mason jar, followed by the optional peppercorns.  Pour 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water over top, and stir in the single packet of Salted Raspberry UnTapped.  These can be ready to go in as little as 30 minutes, or better yet, leave them in the fridge overnight to marinate for optimal results.

These bad boys can be piled on top of your burger, hotdog, or whatever calls you to add some pickled goodness.  WARNING: this may quickly become your new favorite topping and can result in sadness upon reaching the end of the jar.  We highly recommend always keeping an eye on the status of your pickled red onion volume to deter from the aforementioned disappointment when reaching for your hot dog accoutrements.

Ice Cream Sandwiches (yield 3)

-1 pint Ben and Jerry’s, sliced

-6 of your favorite UnTapped Stroopwafels

-rainbow sprinkles for rolling

Does it get any better than maple stroopwafels and ice cream? WITH RAINBOW SPRINKLES?! We think it’s hard to beat.  We chose classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Therapy from Ben and Jerry’s (because you know, options), but go with your heart’s desire.  You can do no wrong here.

Have your favorite UnTapped Waffles at room temp (fridge temp makes them less malleable) and your ice cream straight out of the freezer. Grab your bread knife, and slice your pint into ½”  to ¾” segments for the perfect circular ice cream hunk. Honestly we went a little thicker with our ice cream wheels, but we weren’t disappointed  Peel away the carton and sandwich between waffles.  Roll accordingly in sprinkles, and enjoy!  Finger-lickin’ good.

Electrolyte Popsicles (yield: 8)

-2 packets Grape Mapleaid

-2 packets Lime Mapleaid

-24 oz water

Combine 2 Grape Mapleaid packets with 12 oz of water, and 2 packets of Lime Mapleaid with 12 oz of water, separately.  Fill popsicle molds and place in freezer overnight.  Pop out, and enjoy!  Hydrate and stay cooled naturally with the delicious benefit of electrolytes in our drink mix.

*SECRET MENU ITEM*: slide one of these into your glass, and pour your margarita over it.  Be over the top – you deserve it.
