Devin hails from Dallas, Texas, and grew up playing field hockey, soccer, and running track. In high school, she received the opportunity to travel to Kenya; she’s been an avid traveler ever since. After college in North Carolina, Devin moved to Washington, DC and spent 5 years commuting by bike. Eventually, she relocated to Atlanta. In 2018, 3 years after she’d moved to Atlanta, Devin purchased her first geared bike. In an effort to find community, she took her first bike camping trip with a couple of friends. That’s when everything changed.
Devin is now an avid bikepacker and gravel cyclist. She is a connector, community organizer, event planner, and advocate for BIPOC folks in cycling. In 2019, Devin founded the Atlanta chapter of Radical Adventure Riders (RAR ATL). Through RAR ATL, she leads regular bikepacking trips, monthly happy hours and community rides, skillshare sessions, She has procured an open shop space–“home base”– for the group and established a gear exchange service. Dev feels best when exploring cities by bike, scoring triple words in Scrabble, and nerding out over logistics. Her favorite cities to bike include Mexico City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington, DC. She’s excited to bike along the coast of Croatia with her partner this summer 🙂 Devin can most often be found brewing strong coffee outside on the ancestral lands of the Muscogee Creek Nation, today known as Atlanta, Georgia.
Q&A With Devin
Being surrounded by the community while riding bikes. I can ride solo a million times, but nothing brings me more joy than a 68 degree day bike ride with black and brown folks laughing nonstop. I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity on a regular basis. It truly keeps me going.
